Nate Angellraised by wolves, accidental open-source evangelist

Purely by accident, I happened to run into Rick Turoczy (@turoczy) of Silicon Florist fame on the day Steve Woodward (@oregoniansteve), the Oregonian reporter, was interviewing Rick about Twitter.

Hearing Chuck Severance's presentation at JA-SIG St Paul 2008 about work on the IMS Learning Tools Interoperability 2.0 (LTI) standard restarted some thinking I'd already been doing about where online learning technology is (should be?) headed.

For the second year running, Drupal placed in the Webware 100 awards in the Publishing & Photography category.

Not so long ago, someone (Chris O'Rourke? Scott Kveton?) coined the term portvangelist and spawned a not-your-grandpa's Chamber of Commerce movement to match the term.

Thanks to the University of London, I was able to try out a few open source portfolio systems, including Elgg, Mahara and Moodle.

Just noting that I updated my Drupal 6 test site to 6.1 following the security release. The update was painless.

Thanks to Drupal 6's new update functionality, the site itself checks to see if any updates to core or modules are necessary and let's you know.

Kudos to walkah et al for their work on the Drupal OpenID module and getting OpenID into core for Drupal 6!

By default, OpenID in Drupal 5 and 6 defaults to present regular Drupal authentication first, giving the user the option to toggle to authenticate via OpenID.

Some joker posted an absurd, spurious and probably apocryphal profile of me on Portland on Fire.

If I find out who it is, I'll flood their twitterstream ;)
