The Rhode Island Network for Educational Technology (RINET), in association with the Sakai Foundation, is hosting the second annual Rhode Island Sakai Conference March 31 - April 1, 2009 at the Providence Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island.
I admit I've been lurking in a very slackernly manner in all the discussions in the Sakai community about content authoring, 3akai, UX, K2, Sakai NG and other unpronounceables, so I'm sorry if all this is a day late and a dollar short. Feel free to ignore me if you're part of Sakai and are way too far gone for any more input. After all, these are just thought experiments ;) If you're not part of Sakai, you might learn something about Drupal at least, so it may well be worth your time.
Participants will present experiences from their institutions' use of project sites to address a number of questions: Who sets up project sites & why? How are sites being used? Presentations will include summary use data and user feedback, and will provide a wide variety of examples showing how Sakai is being used beyond its course site capabilities.
Speaker(s): Steve Lonn, University of Michigan; Nate Angell, rSmart; Mara Hancock, University of California - Berkeley; Stephanie Teasley, University of Michigan - Moderator
A day-long, interactive session to craft a Sakai/OSP implementation plan tailored to your institution's characteristics, resources and needs. Each university considering Sakai and/or OSP is distinctive, but to ensure implementation success, each should prepare for issues common to any technology change, and a few issues unique to open/community source applications. Session leaders will help participants begin to develop a detailed implementation plan for their campus.
